Steve and Maree Lehmann, a couple from Brassall, Queensland, spent over two decades amassing one of the world’s most distinctive private collections of approximately 2,000 axes and 500 egg beaters. Their collection was a tribute to historical craftsmanship, design, and preserving the history of these iconic tools.

Steve and Maree are known for their collaborative spirit and dedication to sharing knowledge with other collectors and enthusiasts. They have long been held in the highest regard by their friends and fellow collectors.

Their collection included rare and irreplaceable pieces sourced from around the world, often acquired through a network of fellow enthusiasts and online communities.

Steve Lehmann passed peacefully on November 19, 2020, in Ipswich Hospice Palliative Care after succumbing to acute myeloid leukemia.

“We have lost an amazing collector and one of the nicest blokes who ever picked up an axe.”

Hans Brunner

In 2021, Steve’s long-time friend (and tool dealer) Hans Brunner helped Maree sell the bulk of the collection on his website (hansbrunnertools.com). Listing over 1300 individual tools and taking well over 4000 photos.
